SXSW Day 5 (3/17/09) - Check, please.
It took a lot to make it to yet another early panel, this one for Observe And Report. Judging from Danny McBride and Jody Hill’s appearance I’d say they had a rougher time than I did. The bonus of this panel was that Elvis Mitchell led the discussion. As a big fan of The Treatment on NPR, it was a thrill to see Mitchell lead this talented group of performers through a discussion of...

SXSW Day 4 (3/16) - Worn Down
I took it a bit easier Monday and didn’t make it downtown until 11, in preparation for my friend Laura Roeder’s panel Are Women Taken Seriously On The Web? The panel was one of the best I saw mainly because a lively discussion ensued, and Laura and all the panelists were able to keep the conversation engaging and interesting without stating things everyone knew, or talking down to the...

Funny or Die Presents The Newest Mumblecore Hit - The Dirty Garage. So good, so good. Pitchfork gave the soundtrack a great review too.

The Dirty Garage - The most independent movie ever made. Premiered at SXSW Film Festival 2009.
I think this is ridiculously funny. In the last few years i’ve seen ‘that’ film so many times.

SXSW Day 3 (3/15) - Go With The Flow
There was no time for tacos as I wanted to get to the Convention Center early Sunday to get tickets to Monday’s Observe And Report Premiere. I then ran over and snuck into Felicia Day’s panel, From No Budget to Low Budget. I enjoyed the fact that the background and experience of those on the panel was varied enough to represent a wide spectrum of film-making. Some key takeaways where:...

SXSW Day 2 (3/14) - The Funny Day
I started my day bright and early at the panel Crash the Server — How to Market your Movie by Achieving Webisode Awesomeness. The hosts of the panel run Chop Shop Entertainment , which produces Kevin Smith’s webisodes. The panel was interesting, but I would have liked to have seen an alternate point of view from someone like Funny Or Die.

Current.com mocks Twitter addicts. Heh.
This was the talk of the town at SXSW this weekend. At least between @partymachine and I. Amazing!

SXSW Day 1 (3/13) - It Begins
I’m not sure how these “bloggers” do it. I’ve got enough going on without trying to put together current posts that don’t sound rambling and nonsensical.
But for those following along, yesterday was an amazing first day for SXSW.
I sat in on some panels, and saw the I Love You, Man premiere.
John Pierson and Elvis Mitchell were in the audience, and really hit...
More awesomeness from Jon Hamm (and Eric Appel & Funny or Die).

Eric Appel continues to kill it over at Funny Or Die. (also, GREAT JOB Johanna!)

Headed to Austin for SXSW
Somehow I’ve never been to Austin, the social oasis in the desert of Texas. Due to some extra time off work I’ll finally be able to check the city and fest off my list. Come Friday I’ll be keepin’ it weird while eating chili from a Ten Gallon Hat and riding an armadillo.

I’ll be at the Film and Interactive events. Maybe I’ll see you...
