hitRECord & Tumblr
Tumblr Tuesday Mobile edition.
I didn’t put anything together before leaving for DC to see my friends band so i’ll put this out there. It’s not like Joe really needs MY help, but it seems like him and the Johnsons have some pretty cool things brewing.
hitrecordjoe:
My name’s Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and I make a website called hitRECord.org. So, if I’m already busy making a...

Is this the Meme you’re looking for?
yourkitchensink:
Come on Internet, it has been nine hours and we still haven’t gotten a Jenny Slate/Kanye meme. What’s the hold up?

A Good Time To Be A Zombie
The Richmond Zombie Walk will be strolling through Carytown on Oct 24th. Somehow I’ve missed this every year but this may be the year I finally make it. Speaking of the undead, I’m also looking forward to Ruben Fleischer’s Zombieland, and according to their site, the Zombie Walk people have already organized walks to coincide with next weeks release.

GPOYW: End to an awesome Richmond Summer
I think this was my favorite summer of recent years. I traveled a bit, had an awesome time around Richmond, made some new friends and got to know some others better, wrote for one of my favorite local blogs, was a part of the emerging local Social Media scene (SMCRVA, Hashbrownnetworking, etc), worked on my writing, and saw some awesome comedy. ...

#TumblrTuesday/Tuesday Mixer: It’s All About Joss Whedon.
The following tumblrs all posted about Joss Whedon today. They should meet up for a Dr. Horrible Sing Along (myself, Katia, and a few others would probably join). But you all should follow each other.
“ The ritual presentation of the accountants responsible for tallying the votes was interrupted by...

Chris Hardwick: AN OPEN LETTER:
You Were ME Once, Colbert!!!
by Chris Hardwick on September 21, 2009
Dear Stephen Colbert,
Fun Emmy show last night, huh? NPH was fantastic and good times seemed to be the theme of the night. So, what happened? Why was our eye contact so weird? Was it because it happened in the men’s room? I was that guy in a suit that you locked onto for a second, raised...

Late Nights & Impossible Dreams
There are times in my life where I’m reminded what it really feels like to be sixteen again, and in the optimistic “nothing can get in my way” kinda way, not the angst-ridden high school is hell kinda way. I’m happy with my age, and am thankful for everything that I have, but every once in a while there are brief glimpses into my youth that even inspire, and remind me to...

Journey - Escape Atari Game. (via jamjamers). I’m still trying to track down the Journey tour documentary narrated by the NFL films “It was a snowy day in December, when…” that crams the word “journey” into every possible sentence.

Here’s hoping this season of the Office this will feature more Daryl.

Film on Kickstarter
I funded my first KickStarter project this week, Put This On, created by the notorious Jesse Thorn and Adam Lisagor. It’s an awesome service (and I’d LOVE an invite); one day I’d love to add my own film project to the mix. kickstarter:
From LaPorte, Indiana to Geoff Edgers’ Kinks movie to film debuts to an Andrei Tarkovsky doc, there have already been some excellent film...

Second City comes to Richmond via RVANews
I was lucky enough to finally get to work with the great people over at RVA News to put together this preview of The Second City and their 50th Anniversary Tour. I get to see the show tonight, so I’ll let everyone know how it is. Archive here.

TumblrTuesday Meets The Tuesday Mixer
Dunno what Sussybuckets is up to today, but I figured I’d mash up TumblrTuesday with her The Tuesday Mixer idea. Jess lives out on the West Coast, and uses her Tumblr to talk about her art, photos, and some lengthy personal posts about her life.
Jess, meet Phil. Phil lives on the East Coast and has a deep love of music and all things geekery. He also posts rad stuff to his Tumblr that...

Scharpling & Wurster & The Gathering of the...
In celebration of tonight’s Gathering of the FOT I figured it was worth posting some more Best Show gems. Here’s an in-depth interview with Scharpling & Wurster for the A Special Thing podcast from a few years ago that pulls back the curtain on the workings of The Best Show.
They mention some stage appearances in the interview, and while I couldn’t find video of Jon...

Tobacco Avenue consistently brings great satire to the news and names that make Richmond run. This post on the art of Ed Trask of Avail (and now Heks Orkest) nails it.

Jerry Minor’s Auto-Tune Masterpiece courtesy of A Special Thing and Scott Aukerman (click through to listen). Much like The Best Show, if you aren’t listening to Comedy Death Ray radio on Friday afternoons (or via Podcast) you are missing out and there’s not much more I can do for you.

I’ve got Jerry Minor’s auto-tune song in my head. “Do you like mon-ey?”

The Tuesday Mixer #1
I like this idea. It’s kinda like TumblrTuesday that John, Rosie and others helped me get going before the Tumblr staff recently joined in on. Maybe I’ll come up with one later today. sussybuckets:
Wherein I introduce people whose Tumblrs I follow to each other. I’m not sure how many Tuesdays I will be able to do this since most of the people I follow already know each other. But...

Youth In Revolt Trailer - Starring Michael Cera.
This may silence the critics who accuse him of having on voice. Directed by Miguel Arteta, who somehow hasn’t made a feature film since The Good Girl. I am looking forward to this. jakefogelnest:
Here’s the trailer for the upcoming film, “Youth In Revolt.” Saw a screening of it a few weeks ago - it’s GREAT.
