One of Richmond’s most subtle and less-known islands is actually a hotbed of history and mystery. We take a look at both of these attributes to get you excited for an upcoming tour sponsored by the Valentine that will give us all a closer look at this little rock of land.

Veteran Tumblr users: no finer folks in the world to share a plate of pickled veggies with. Hugel joined us as PWW and wanderlustandtethers dropped in for a visit to Tumblr Richmond (from New York and Austin, respectively). We lunched downstairs at Ejay Rin.
This was a wonderful final afternoon in Richmond. The weather was perfect and the bike ride from the Fan district into Manchester over the James River is beautiful. A pleasure to be seated across the table from two of Richmond’s finest.
19 years ago today The Rollins Band played at The Flood Zone in Shockoe Bottom, along with Corrosion of Conformity (who are playing Richmond this weekend as a part of Best Friend’s Day). This was part of The End of Silence tour for Henry Rollins.
