Oregon Trail
Oregon is a wild place, leaving Portland and its familiar weather, within a few hours we were riding a ski lift to the top of Mount Hood and standing in snow. The Timberline lodge, built by the WPA, and used as the exterior for the Overlook Hotel in The Shining was the perfect backdrop, if only we had time (and need) to warm up by the giant fire. I didn’t realize that I’d be driving into a high desert as we came down the other side of the mountain.
